The Northwest Society of Interior Designers upholds the standards for professional practice as exemplified by National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) and The Council for Qualification of Residential Interior Designers (CQRID).
Qualification for Professional level Membership requires demonstration of competency via a combination of exam and experience.
- Completion of the NCIDQ Examination recognizes that an individual has met minimum competency standards for the practice of interior design. NCIDQ's role includes the establishment of standards for education and experience and the administration of a minimum competency examination.
- Passage of the exam is a requirement for licensure in all NCIDQ member jurisdictions. The exam also serves as a qualifier for professional membership within interior design organizations and, for non-affiliates, represents a voluntary individual accomplishment.
- NCIDQ Certification identifies the qualified practitioner, ensures recognition of expertise and assists development and self-improvement through the individual's understanding of a body of knowledge and a set of professional standards.
National Council for Interior Design Qualification
- Qualifying examination is offered to residential interior designers who have the drive, ability and dedication necessary to achieve professional status in their chosen field. The CQRID testing program is the symbol for excellence in residential interior design and is a key to enhanced professional stature among customers and peers.
